email users when someone posts in thread

 i am on my way to bed, but wanted to get this out of the way before i forgot.  is there a way for users to get emails when someone replies to their posts in forums?  a "subscribe" if you will?


if so, is there a way to show it easily and readily avaible on forums, or even have it set by default for users so they dont have to think about it?

Comment Notify is new to me.  I had been using the Notifications module but the Drupal 7 version is limited, new development has stalled, and the project page says that it's seeking a new maintainer.

This is a shame because it's a very powerful module that I actually use here in conjunction with other messaging modules.

The d7 version of

The d7 version of notifications requires you have php 5.3 see here, this isnt always an option for some
