Preview Comments
When you set up a content type, there's a section for configuring the Comments that users will post. Among those configuration parameters are options for allowing commenting in general, threading, etc. Toward the bottom of the Comment Configuration section of a Content Type is an option that says:
Preview Comment
The options are:
- Optional
- Required
I'm not sure where Drupal derives it's default value for this parameter, but all Content Types were set to Required for Previewing Comments.
While it's always a good idea to take a look at what your post is going to look like before you save it, I have noticed that there have been instances where people have written a comment, clicked the 'Preview' button not noticing that the comment was not being saved but simply previewd, and navigated away.
I've changed the Preview Comment setting for all Content Types to Optional. This way, there is both a Preview and a Save button on the Comment Add page for all Content Types.
I hate the idea of losing user comments because of confusing functionality.
